coaching requirements

Attention Prospective Head Coaches and Assistant Coaches:

All coaches—head and assistantmust complete the Volunteer Registration process. Please carefully read the instructions below before registering to ensure a smooth and complete submission.

Important:
Only Head Coaches are required to complete the Prospective Coach Application in addition to the standard registration.

NOTE: Coaches serve at the discretion of the league and may be removed or not reappointed based on behavior, conduct, or failure to adhere to league guidelines and expectations. Coaching positions are not guaranteed and do not carry tenure.

Coach Registration Requirements

All coaches—head and assistant—are required to obtain the same level of certification.

Why?
Because safety is our top priority. In the absence of the head coach, assistant coaches must be equally prepared to provide qualified care to our players.

To be considered for a coaching role, you must upload the following items during registration:

  • Valid Driver’s License

  • Sudden Cardiac Arrest Certification
Approx. 30 minutes — Valid for 3 years from completion date

  • Concussion in Sports Certification
Approx. 45 minutes — Valid for 1 year from completion date

  • Abuse Awareness Training
Approx. 45 minutes — Valid for 1 year from completion date

  • CPR & First Aid Certification
Approx. 25 minutes — Valid for 2 years from completion date

  • Photo for ID Badge
Clear photo showing only your face and shoulders — no sunglasses

Important: Use the links at the bottom of the page to complete these certifications before beginning your registration.

TEAM ROSTERS WILL NOT BE RELEASED UNTIL ALL REQUIREMENTS ARE COMPLETE.

Certifications and Required Documents

All certifications and required documents must remain valid through the end of the coaching season for which you are registering.

  • For Spring Ball, documents must be valid through June 30.

  • For Fall Ball, documents must be valid through October 31.

Failure to upload valid documentation may delay your application, affect your eligibility to volunteer, and could result in your team starting the season late.

Please note: The system does not retain certification records from previous years. It is the volunteer’s responsibility to retain copies of any multi-year certifications for future use.

Background Check

Once you have successfully submitted your volunteer information, you will receive an email from JDP to complete your background check. Please complete the background check within two weeks, as the link will expire after that time.

Coach Code of Conduct Policy

All coaches are required to read, sign, and adhere to the SCLL Coach Code of Conduct. Compliance with this code is mandatory for participation in any coaching activities.

ASAP Safety Manual

All coaches are required to read, understand, and adhere to the ASAP Safety Manual, which is available under the Safety tab on the league website.

Photo ID Badge Policy

All volunteers will be issued a Photo ID badge with a lanyard. SCLL requires all volunteers to wear their ID badges at all times while participating in any SCLL activity. Badges will be printed and distributed as soon as possible following volunteer approval.
